The method

Every reading on this site follows the Chaldean system. It assigns a fixed number to each letter, drawn from the sound of the letter rather than its place in the alphabet, and is the system most commonly followed by numerologists in India.

Three numbers matter for a name reading. The Moolank comes from the day of the month you were born. The Bhagyank comes from the whole date. Both are fixed for life. The Naamank comes from the letters of your name, and it is the one that can be adjusted.

Where the name number works against the two birth numbers, the spelling is altered — usually by repeating a letter already present, or adding an initial — until the total falls on a number that supports them. Several spellings will often qualify. Choosing between them is where judgement comes in, and why a reading is prepared rather than generated.

What a reading will not do

Numerology is a traditional practice, not a science, and it is offered here for guidance and reflection. A corrected name is not a substitute for medical treatment, legal counsel or financial advice, and no reading on this site should be taken as any of those.

The calculation itself is fixed. Given the same name and the same date of birth, the same numbers will result every time — and the working is shown in full inside every report, so it can be checked.
